Scotch Classic is a cassette of my scratchy compositions from 1977. You can tell it’s 1977 because of my references to David Bowie’s Low, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Talking Heads’ 77, Eno’s Before and After Science, and the parody of The Sex Pistols. I’m still at school, living at home, and recruiting my brother and sister on some of the tracks to play flute and sing. Songs:
Scatterbrain the Chatterbox
Under Foreign Sky
Close Encounters
Animal Bars
Tea
Hermit and Dancer
The Building Song
Silent Night
This outtake from Thomi Wroblewski’s session for the sleeve of the 1986 Momus EP Murderers the Hope of Women features me and Catherine Brouard as macabre totentanzeren. Thomi’s lighting manages to give the scene the feel of a grotesque early 20th century Polish theatre production. The masks are Japanese.
